Seminar on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of Seismic Sea Wave was held in IDP from March 4th to March 6th. More than 30 experts and scholars from organizations such as National Marine Environment Forecasting Center, Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center, China Institute of Water Resources, Hydropower Research, Institute of Geophysics from China Earthquake Administration, Institute of Engineering Mechanics from China Earthquake Administration, and IDP participated in the seminar.

Bo Jingshan, President of IDP attended the seminar and gave a welcome address. He introduced the current situation, development prospects of IDP and shared information about scientific research and social services on disaster prevention and mitigation. Then a series of keynote speeches were delivered by experts and scholars during the seminar: “Seismic Sea Wave and Security of Nuclear Facilities” by Pan Rong, researcher from Nuclear and Radiation Center; “Research Status and Development Tendency of Seismic Sea Wave” by Wen Ruizhi, researcher from Institute of Engineering Mechanics; “Early Warning of China Seismic Sea Wave” by Wang Xinian , researcher from National Marine Environment Forecasting Center and Zhao Lianda, group leader of tsunami warning; “Key Technical Issues on Risk Analysis of Seismic Sea Wave” by Professor Ren Luchuan, director of Institute of Comprehensive Disaster Reduction from IDP; “Prevention and Control of Flood Disaster” by Professor Wang Xiaosong, deputy chief engineer from China Institute of Water Resources, Hydropower Research; “The Monitoring System of Seismic Sea Wave in South China Sea” by Dr Guo Liangtian from Guangdong Earthquake Administration. Experts and scholars attending the seminar conducted extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions on issues of disaster prevention and mitigation of seismic sea wave.
